Starter School is the grad school for people who want to learn how to build software and start companies. Among a small class of highly motivated people, you will:
Build the functional prototype of your web application by learning Ruby on Rails.
Apply product development and business skills to ship your app and start a company.
As a Starter School student, you'll be joined by others who want to make a dent in the universe. You'll work side-by-side with inspiring people on your journey from zero to entrepreneur.
Your teachers have started successful companies, accrued millions of customers and invented new technologies. They are passionate about teaching people who are motivated to learn, and sharing what they know through hands-on mentorship.
Your curriculum is a full-time and beginner-focused blend of development, design and entrepreneurship. You'll get practical experience from workshops, coaching, hackathons and a culminating event where you'll launch your product.

You're frustrated because that idea in your head isn't real yet. You aren't sure what to do next. You've tried to learn on your own, you've tried to find someone who can do the work for you, but each failed attempt drains your confidence. No one cares as much about your idea as you do. And the current pathways to learning are inadequate for your needs.
We know this feeling, because that was us several years ago. We were stuck in a mode that most of our society operates in. We were complacent with low-morale as we droned on with our jobs. It was paralyzing.
We decided that life could be about more than just finding a job and making money. We no longer wanted to look at work as a means to enjoy our lives outside of it. We wanted to do work that was fulfilling.
We chose to learn how to build software after identifying meaningful problems to solve through technology. We invested a full year's time teaching ourselves by watching online lectures, reading books, and completing exercises. But we soon realized we were only getting good at completing tutorials, not building functional products and gaining real world experience.
When we couldn't find a place to learn the skills and gain the experience we needed, we created one. This is the school that we wished we had while struggling for that year. Starter School is the best place to learn how to turn your dreams into reality through software.
At Starter School, you will be the visionary. Rather than being a cog in a wheel, you will become the designer of the machine itself. Building a product from start to finish will engage you in all aspects of the creative process that is software development and entrepreneurship.
If the opportunity to build software and create companies that change the world for the better gives you chills, and you have the passion and energy to do what it takes to make that change happen, then Starter School is for you.
Let's do this.
Tuition for Starter School is $12,000 per quarter, excluding housing, materials, and personal expenses. A refundable deposit of $3,000 will be required in order to confirm your acceptance. One week before the start of each quarter a payment of $12,000 must be made. For example, the Winter quarter begins on January 6, so a payment of $12,000 would be due no later than December 30.
Currenty we don't offer loans or financial aid. However, we are actively working with loan providers and the government to make Starter School more affordable. In the meantime, please reach out to us at email@example.com so we can learn more about your situation.
Our students have creatively raised funds for Starter School in numberous ways. They've sourced online donations, secured company sponsorship, created friends and family loans, and even sold their cars. The students who have given up the most tend to get the most out of the program. They treat it like a serious, life-changing investment— which is exactly what it is.
We are excited to announce a partnership with Upstart, a platform that allows individuals to get financial investment to pursue their dream careers. This partnership allows current students and future Starter School students to raise funding for Starter School tuition.
