What are you most excited about teaching?
I think managing your emotional health and knowing yourself well enough to make good decisions about your business is a critical skill set that gets too little attention in startup circles. I look forward to talking with my students about their fears, their struggles and their uncertainties--and how to embrace that fear to move the business forward. Being a successful entrepreneur is requires mastering these aspects of a startup as much as data collection and A/B testing.
What expectations will you have of your students?
I expect them to be intellectually honest with themselves, and with me. I expect them to be supportive of each other and constructive in their feedback. Fear and stress have so much power over us--but only until we acknowledge them, laugh at them and take action to make things better. And any student who ever responds to "How is it going?" with "We're crushing it!" will get an automatic D-.
What have you been working on lately?
We are an e-commerce site, so we just started working with a fantastic tech team who is making our site responsive to allow for a smooth mobile shopping experience to boost our mobile conversions. And we're working to launch a content strategy to further cement our position as the leader in "Upscale Resale" with an eye toward style, convenience and quality.
