Why are you at Starter School?
I didn't like the traditional education environment and wanted to try something different. My interests were already in computer science/programming so Starter School was a good fit.
Is there one experience that stands out for you at Starter School?
I had already taken the 3-month Web Development program, but I knew on the first day that this was going to be an even more immersive program.
How do you explain Starter School to your friends, family, and/or significant others?
I just respond with "Big things, my friend, big things."
What are you building right now?
Unfortunately I'm contractually obligated to not talk about it. All I can say is it's going to disrupt its segment in a huge way.
What would you say to someone interested in joining Starter School?
There is nothing I can say that would adequately describe all the reasons to join Starter School, so the most powerful thing I can tell them is just do it and you'll have no regrets.
Who or what inspires you and why?
I really came to admire Walt Disney after I took a trip to Disney World where they have a museum that chronicles his entire life and all of his work. Although many people attribute the success of the Disney corporation to brilliant marketing and good business, I still think that Walt Disney's original vision and ability, to create characters and stories, that have become pillars in world culture is something truly amazing.
My second hero is Benjamin Franklin. Although Franklin has many achievements to his name, the reason I admire him most is probably his 13 virtues and his constant pursuit to make himself a better person. In Franklin's biography, he made many socially and morally questionable decisions in his life, but would constantly reflect upon and self assess his behavior, checking himself against his 13 virtues. By doing so, he was able to constantly move towards being a better person.
What's something you've done in your life that you're most proud of?
Dropping out of college and joining Starter School. I'll be even more proud when it pays off.
